YOUR COMMUNITY LIAISON: MARLEEN WHELAN
I received a BSc in Agriculture from UBC in 1991. During my last two years of university I assisted on an arboreal
lichen / Mountain Caribou research project. After graduating and starting work with TDB Consultants Inc. I became a
Professional Agrologist in 1993 and upgraded through correspondence and short intensive courses to qualify as a
Registered Professional Forester in 2000. The research papers I did for my degree and for my RPF status were on
the residual effects of glyphosate, and the practicality of the current stream assessment process respectively.
My main field of work in the forestry industry has been Silviculture Prescriptions - a data collection and
reforestation prescription process considering the vegetation, site nutrition/moisture, forest health,
hydrology and slope stability of areas scheduled for timber harvesting. In conjunction with this
I have worked extensively with permits, proposals, reports, quality control and training related to
various aspects of the forest industry.
